“text-align: left;”>Master Thespians’ A Christmas Carol:  Be part of this performance extravaganza as Master Thespian attempts the grueling and stage defying act of recreating Dickens’s classic tale of redemption- in under 30 minutes!  Master Thespian will put himself in psychological harms way as he exposes his inner soul to the full range of emotions needed to transport his audience from laughter to pity to shock to love to despair to hope.  Audiences gather around this outdoor stage and share in an intimate marvel of stagecraft with full production values: Lights, Sound, Sets, Props, Puppets, Costumes, & Special-Effects.

What is The Virginia Theatre Machine?: A custom built mobile stage prepared to transport engaging and innovative professional theater to audiences anywhere a 2,000 lb trailer can be embedded.   Whether it is the parking lot of your favorite mall, local schoolyard, library, community center basketball court, public park, private beach, or in front of your own back door, Virginia Theatre Machine (VTM) will perform.  Artistically, VTM combines a fully designed theatrical production (light, sound, scenery, costumes, puppets, special-effects) with an energetic street theatre performance style and audience interaction.  The VTM is under the direction of Mark J. Lerman of Williamsburg, VA and was designed and fabricated by Woodward Studios in Providence, RI.

  • All Performances are OUTDOORS!!! So dress warm (and check your local presenter’s website for possible weather related adjustments to time and/or day of performance)
  • Admission:  Free and open to the public
  • Total Running time:  Approx. 30 minutes
  • Suggested audience:  Ages 3 to 93 (but dress warm, it gets cold outside)

About the Virginia Theatre Machine Artists:  Virginia Theatre Machine’s proprietor and Director is Mark J. Lerman, former Artistic Director (15 years) of the internationally renowned Perishable Theatre in Providence, RI. The sets, special effects and puppets are designed by Jeremy Woodward, art director for film and television and designs scenery and puppetry for the stage.  Ed Whitacre and Mary Wadkins, two of the Peninsula’s favorite and most critically acclaimed actors perform.  Janea Whitacre, Millinery Mistress of the Millinery at Colonial Williamsburg, designed and built the costumes.  NYC Designer Bart Fassbender designs Sound.  Each artist has 20+ yrs experience in their field.  The Virginia Theatre Machine is a custom built trailer w/ a professional light & sound system.

Virginia Theatre Machine is part of the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 Virginia Commission for the Arts Touring Roster.
